Clarence Stahlhut Rites on Thursday

Cedar Falls - Final rites for Clarence Stahlhut, 31, city lineman who was accidentally electrocuted while working on a power line near Benson creamery Monday, will be at the Dahl funeral home here at 2 p.m. Thursday, conducted by Dr. O. M. Yaggy. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Stahlhut, a veteran of World War II, is survived by his wife, the former Lillian Schwanke; his mother, Mrs. Clara Stahlhut, and four brothers, all residing in Waterloo.

The brothers include Paul, Wernold, Virgil and Harvey. The five brothers were all serving in World War II at the same time and received their discharges about te same time.

Clarence saw service in the hospital corps overseas from 1942 to 1945.

He was born Aug. 5, 1909, at Sumner, Ia., the son of Mrs. and Mrs. Arthur Stahlhut. His father died several years ago.

Clarence married Lillian Schwanke, daughter of former Police Chief Louis Schwanke, Jan. 12, 1947, in Waterloo. They bought a home at 1509 Olive street, and Stahlhut had been employed in the city line crew most of the time since.

He was a member of Emmanual Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
