George M. SCHWENK, 70, 2750 E. 700 N., Tiosa, died 4:30 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Hospital of Marshall County, Plymouth.
Born in Starke County to Rudolph and Fern SCHERTZ SCHWENK, he married Liale WOLFORD on Aug 20, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rochester. She survives.
Mr. Schwenk was a farmer, served as Richland Township trustee for 24 years, and served on the Rochester School Board for 24 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rochester, and Knights of Columbus of same. He loved fishing and nature.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra and husband Jim CHASE, Milford, Mich., and Lori and husband Tim PRICE, Plymouth; two sons, George and Evelyn SCHWENK, Ferdinand, and Tom and wife Charlee SCHWENK, Rochester; seven grandchildren, Kellee [SCHWENK], George [SCHWENK], Brock [SCHWENK] and Abby SCHWENK, Eric [CHASE] and Scott CHASE, and Sarah PRICE; one sister, Sister Gertrude Deloris, South Bend; one brother, Gene and wife Carol SCHWENK, Evansville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Gerald [SCHWENK], Gilbert [SCHWENK], Garland [SCHWENK] and Glenn SCHWENK.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rochester with Rev. Alan COX officiating. Burial will be in Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster & Good Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. There also will be visitation at the funeral home Thursday from 9 a.m. until time to depart to the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cancer Institute of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth Campus.
