Shortly after John Jacob immigrated from Hesse-Cassel Prussia he married Gertrude Catherine SCHULTE 11th, June, 1848, in Fredericktown, MO. To this union were born 9 children, one of which was a boy. The children in order of birth are as follows:

Jacob was a merchant, farmer, and respected businessman.
