Howard F. Cole of Ft. Myers, Fla., passed away suddenly on Nov. 1, 2010, in Houston, Texas.

Howard was born in Vernon, Texas, in 1932 to Olin H. Cole and Elba (Snyder) Cole.

He later moved with his family to Wichita Falls, Texas, where he graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1949.

After attending Midwestern, Howard joined the Marine Corps in 1953, becoming a Marine fighter pilot, serving in the Korean Conflict.

In 1958 he was a pilot for Braniff Airlines, where he met his wife, Sondra Hummel, a Braniff flight attendant.

After a long career with Braniff, Howard joined the FFA in the Dallas-Ft. Worth office.

He later transferred to the FFA office in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., retiring in 1997. Howard and Sondra moved to Ft. Myers, Fla. in 2000.

Howard had many interests during his lifetime, but most enjoyed spending time with his beloved family.

He had a lifelong passion for baseball and flying; raised cattle; raised, trained and rode cutting horses; enjoyed quail hunting and training bird dogs.

In recent years he also enjoyed trips to the beach and fishing

Howard was an avid reader, with a particular interest in history.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to remember him, are his wife of 51 years, Sondra, daughters, Christine Biederman and husband Rob of Dallas, Texas, and Michelle Baden and husband Eric of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Tiffany Stone, Jacqueline Stone and Alexandra Biederman.

A military service and burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2010, at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
