Wilma Hatfield, 90, of Norris City, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2010 at 10:37 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born March 16, 1920 in Pinkstaff, IL, the daughter of William and Myrtle (Davis) Gerdes. She married John Walker Hatfield October 9, 1981 and he preceded her in death July 30, 2004. She was a waitress and a member of First United Methodist Church in Norris City, American Legion Auxilary, and Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Allen Ray and Shirley Gerdes of Montour Falls, NY; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Phyllis Bryant and Betty and Raymond English all of Danville, Kentucky; a grandson, James A. Gerdes of Alpine, NY; two step-grandchildren, Michelle Robinson and John W. D. Hatfield; and several step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a step-son, John Hatfield; a sister, Katherine Wallace; and three brothers, George, Chet, and Norman Gerdes. Funeral services for Wilma Hatfield, 90, of Norris City, will be Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Rev. Janet Roy officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
