Mr. Giannelli was Catholic. He was a member of the board for the Oceans Condominium Ownership Association. He was a member of the Town Point Club and The Harbor Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was decorated for injuries suffered during the Battle of the Bulge.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Helen Phelps Giannelli of Virginia Beach; a son, Michael J. Giannelli and his wife, Laura, of Suffolk; a grandson, Adam Giannelli, a student at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond; a brother, Tony Giannelli and his wife, Mary, of Norfolk; three sisters-in-law, Peggy McKnight of Virginia Beach, Mildred Houser of Norfolk, Bobbi Giannelli of Norfolk; a niece, Noel Johnson of Norfolk; five nephews, Ronnie Cravedi of Virginia Beach, Eddie Cravedi of Norfolk, Jeffrey and David McKnight of Fairfield, Conn., and Raymond Houser of Jacksonville, Fla.
A chapel service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, by the Rev. John Dorgan and Rabbi Lawrence A. Forman. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
