Husband of Lucinda "Cindy" Hall, daughter of Samuel Hall and Martha "Patsy" Brewington.
William and Lucinda were parents of 10 children.

William was a carpenter, he made shingles and furniture. One of his brothers Noah, joined the Confederates and is said he never returned from the war.

MILITARY SERVICE: William James and David Knight enlisting for three years on August 12, 1863, was mustered in August 15, 1863 at Camp Nelson, Kentucky, in Co H 8th Regiment Tennessee Calvary, USA
