"Robert C. Grasberger, 86, formerly of Media, a lawyer in Philadelphia for more than 35 years and a church activist, died of Parkinson's disease Tuesday at Dunwoody Village, a retirement community in Newtown Square.
Mr. Grasberger was a partner in the law firm Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young until retiring in 1982.
He had been an elder at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Center City. Since 1980, he was an elder at Media Presbyterian Church. He was a delegate to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America in 1966 and 1977, and served on the "Committee of 15," which studied the revisions to the church's statement of faith, Confession of '67. He was a past president and chairman of the finance committee of the U.S. Bible and Medical Missionary Fellowship, now Interserve.
Mr. Grasberger grew up in Logan. He earned bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.
During World War II, he served in the Army Air Force as a flight-squadron executive officer. While stationed in England, he arranged for Snellenbergs department store in Philadelphia to send Christmas gifts and candy to war-deprived British children.
Mr. Grasberger is survived by his wife of 56 years, Christine Schurmann Grasberger; sons Stephen, Bruce and Donald; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Media Presbyterian Church, 30 E. Baltimore Ave., Media, where friends may call after 10."
