Violet Bernice Zigan, 86, resident of Welcome Home in Elmwood, WI passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 30, 2010.
Violet was born to Martin and Mary (Platz) Boeckermann in St. Rosa, MN on June 4, 1924. She grew up on the family farm and attended a nearby country school until she began 9th grade at St. Cloud High School.
Violet married Raymond Weber on February 10, 1942, in Freeport, MN. They began their married life in Abilene, TX, during World War II. After the war, they resided in Elmwood, WI, where they raised their family. Vi later married Ray Zigan in South Dakota during the summer of 1981. They resided together in St. Paul, MN. Later in life, Violet returned to Elmwood, where she reconnected with many friends from the past as well as making new friends. She remained there until her death.
Survivors include her children, Glen (Margie) Weber of St. Paul Park, MN., Curt (Jenny) Weber of Elmwood, WI., Ruby (Gerald) Wilkie of Eau Claire, WI and Renee (Rudy) Carlson of Eau Claire, WI. Violet is further survived by a sister, Rosemary Easbey of Blue Earth, MN.; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Vi was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Zigan; and her children's father, Raymond Weber; three sisters; and six brothers.
Funeral services to celebrate Violet's life will be held on Monday, December 6 at 12:00 noon at Kessler & Maguire Funeral Home, 640 West Seventh St., St. Paul, MN, 55102.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Burial will follow at Fort Snelling Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Welcome Home.
