Film Director. He was a Hungarian-born Hollywood motion director as well as a film writer, and producer of the 1920s and 1930s. He was the older brother of film directors Jules White and Sam White. The brothers were known to be collectors of early film memorabilia. After his divorce from Pauline Starke, he adopted the stage name Jack White and also used the pseudonym Preston Black. He directed a number of the best early 3 Stooges comedy shorts for Columbia, such as "Ants in the Pantry," "Disorder in the Court," and "A Pain in the Pullman."
