Funeral services for Winnie Eminger-Taylor, 100, of Portales will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 6, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Portales with Rev. Michael Brunk, Herman Eminger and Randy Eminger officiating. Burial will follow in the Floyd Cemetery with David Eminger, Tim Eminger, Keith Cavett, Don Clark, Don Holder, Chuck Corzine, Mark Eminger, and Duane Bergamini serving as pallbearers. All of her grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
Winnie Wilma Catherine Eminger-Taylor was born November 30, 1910, in the Upton community west of Portales to the home of Elizabeth and Charles Lynn Gunn and died December 1, 2010, in Portales. Winnie attended school at Floyd. On January 4, 1926 in Portales, she was married to Herman E. Eminger. They farmed in Upton as well as Portales and Floyd until 1955. At that time, they moved to Portales. Mr. Eminger died September 7, 1986. On April 30, 1990, she was married to Joe E. Taylor. Mr. Taylor also preceded her in death on May 11, 1996.
She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church. Winnie loved playing dominos and dancing. She loved to be outside working along side her husband. Winnie was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. While her children were at home, she was always busy with her family's activities, supporting them at school, attending their ball games and parties.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Herman Ray and Sharon Eminger of Las Vegas, NV, Gary Leo and Becky Eminger of Portales, and Randy Eminger of Atlanta, GA; four daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline and Bo Clark, and Nadine and Buddy Moore of Portales, Cleo and Al Corzine of Roswell, and Carole and Bruce Bergamini of Chino Valley, AZ; 43 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren, and 45 great-great-grandchildren; and also by Mr. Taylor's children, David (Jacque) Taylor of Flora Vista, NM, Richard (Susan) Taylor of Tucumcari, Kerney (Mattie) Taylor of Bloomfield, NM, and Jo Beth Gamett of Albuquerque.
Besides both of her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Sam, Lynn, Jess, Frank and Debs Gunn; four sisters, Hazel Griffith, Fannie Cochrain, Lydia Kizer, and Minnie Gunn; half brother,George Parker; two sons, Stanley Eugene Eminger and Kenneth Glenn Eminger; two grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
