Born June 25, 1914 in Sheboygan, Sylvera was a daughter of the late Herman and Hildegard Kleist Eisold. She attended St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Grade School. On June 25, 1936, she was united in marriage to Eugene Bartzen. They were married for 37 years before Eugene preceded her in death on March 27, 1974.
Sylvera was a homemaker who also worked for Hand Knit Hosiery and the H.C. Prange Company. She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, the St. Anne's Society, Catholic Daughters of America, the Catholic Daughters of America Choir and the St. Lawrence Seminary Guild. She enjoyed arts and crafts, including drawing, painting, knitting, crocheting, macramé, ceramics and beading. She had a love of music and singing and played the organ. She loved her church, her family, flowers, cooking and sewing.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard (JoAnn) Bartzen, Sheboygan and Gene (Emily) Bartzen, Leadville, CO; five grandchildren, Mark (Pam) Hiebing, Sheboygan Falls, Michael (Kim) Hiebing, San Diego, CA, Lisa (Shaun) Nelson, San Diego, CA, Stacey (Kevin) Miller, Sheboygan Falls, and Stuart (Candace) Bartzen, Sheboygan Falls; eleven great grandchildren, Gary (Selina) Hiebing Darla (Vivek) Saiman, Scot (Liticia) Hiebing, Janelle (David) Lehman, Donald (Nicole) Hiebing, Trevar Hiebing, Hannah Herring, Jacob and Charles Miller, Nichole Bartzen and Paxton Allison; five great great grandchildren, Ethan Hiebing, Sofia Saiman, Braden Hiebing, Jada Lehman and Kalli Hiebing; a sister-in-law, Ann Bartzen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is further survived by her special niece, Karen Herman.
Besides her parents and husband, Eugene, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Barbara Bartzen, Kathleen Bartzen and Carol Bartzen; four sisters, Harriette Eisold, Hildegard (Thomas) Goric, Sabina (August) Herman and Marion (Arthur) Weber; brothers-in-law, Raymond Bartzen, Walter Bartzen and Robert (Marcella) Oehlberg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Sylvera at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. The Rev. James E. Connell, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
