OBITUARY: Donald J. Horsch
Donald J. Horsch of Hastings died unexpectedly at his home June 19. He was 68.
Funeral services were held June 22 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Father Blaine Wasnie, OSB, was in charge of the services. Interment was in the church cemetery, Hastings.
The casket bearers were Mr. Horsch's eleven grandchildren. The honorary pallbearers were nephews Chuck Lawrence, Jeff Lawrence, Ed Lawrence, Joe Horsch, Steve Horsch and Debbie Fanslow.
Mr. Horsch was born January 29, 1928 in Hastings, the son of Joseph P. and Veronica (Rother) Horsch. He was a 1949 graduate of Hastings High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran.
He was an agent operator for the Milwaukee and Soo Line Railroads. He was a member of the Soo Line Veterans Association, the American Legion, Eagles and Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Horsch married Jeanne Thumann July 16, 1949 in Hastings.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; three sons, Mike and his wife Brenda of Duluth, Tom and his wife Jane of Prescott, and Jim of Hastings; four daughters, Cynthia Horsch of West Palm Beach, Florida, Susanne Hass and her husband Steve of Hastings, Colleen Horsch of Hastings and Michelle Fairbanks and her husband Mike of Red Wing; one brother Robert and his wife Carolyn of Randolph; and eleven grandchildren, Ricky Plan, Corey Plan, Jim Slattum, Brian Slattum, Laura Haas, Pete Schweich, Amie Fairbanks, Brad Horsch, Ryan Horsch, Maranda Horsch and Christina Horsch. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bernard and half-sister, Doloris Fenelon.
