LEONARD WAYNE SELIG died December 9, 2010 at Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center, KS at the age of 90. He was born on May 2, 1920 in Olivet, Kansas the son of George Selig and Anna Schrader. Leonard was raised in Osage County and graduated from Olivet High School. He earned a degree in Education from Emporia State University and a Masters degree from Colorado State University. Leonard married Frances Shirley on Februuary 15, 1942.He served in the US Navy during WWII. Leonard taught at Harper High School and Augusta High School before moving to Clay Center in 1955. He taught and coached at CCCHS until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lions Club and N.E.A. Leonard is preceded in death by a sister and 3 brothers. Survivors include: Wife: Frances Selig, Clay Center, KS Son: Gary and wife Peggy Selig, Overland Park , KS Son: Alan and wife Karen Selig, Limerick, PA Daughter: Linda Selig-Marshall, Ann Arbor, MI Grandchildren: 9 Grand and 4 Great-grand. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Matthew Coleman. Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM the Alpine Cemetery, Osage City, KS. Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church c/o the funeral home.
