Nora Van Alstyne was born on November 8, 1916 to Gustav and Alma Dahse in New Bielau near Weimar, Texas, and went home to be with the Lord at the age of ninety-four on December 12, 2010. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Willis for over sixty years where she attended regularly. Nora received her beautician's license and sold Avon cosmetics for forty-three years and was a top seller, making the prestigious President's Club numerous times for her sales excellence. Friends and family raved about Nora's wonderful cooking, especially her homemade pies. She was preceded in death by first husband, Alfred Vornsand, and second husband, Garner Van Alstyne; parents, Gustav and Alma Dahse; and two sisters, Selma Wienken and Esther Vornsand. Survivors include sons Kenneth Vornsand and wife, Beverly; Bill Van Alstyne and wife, Cathy; John Van Alstyne and wife, Carol; and Don Van Alstyne; sisters, Helen Kainer and Ellyn Stryk; grandchildren Kathy Stakes and husband, Don; Dianne Peterson and husband, Brice; Jennifer Van Alstyne, Chandler Van Alstyne, Whitney Van Alstyne, Landon Van Alstyne, Amy Lehnert and husband, Ben, and Micah Van Alstyne; great grandchildren Ashley Stakes, Cameron Peterson, and Natalie Peterson. Very special thanks to long time caregivers, Barbara Trahan, Kay Royder, and Gayle Robistow. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 16th at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Willis, with graveside services to be conducted in Weimar Masonic Cemetery in Weimar at 3:00 p.m. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 15th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas.
