Joyce Elaine Biester, 66, of Valley Falls, KS passed away on May 22, 2004, at her home after an extended illness.
She was born August 1, 1937, at Hooker, S.D., the daughter of Gustave A. and Violet Edblum Johnson.
She graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1955. Mrs. Biester and her husband operated a dairy and later a grain and cattle farm west of Valley Falls. She was a member of Valley Falls United Methodist Church and the Swabville Club.
She married Edwin L. Biester on Oct. 25, 1956, at Leavenworth, KS. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Clay Biester and Chris Biester and wife Jacque, all of Valley Falls; a daughter, Cindy Parker and husband Woodie, Valley Falls; two brothers, Glenn Johnson, Leavenworth, and Virgil Johnson, Lansing, KS; and three grandchildren, Jessica Biester, Joshua Biester and Neil Parker, all of Valley Falls.
A brother, Duane Johnson, preceded her in death.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services were held May 26, 2004 at Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson County Hospice, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
