Shirley M. Harris


Shirley Manahan Harris passed away on July 27, 2010. She was 82 years old.

Born in Easton on May 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late, Hayward G. and Ethel Shaw (Arnold) Manahan. She graduated from Cordova High School in 1945 and lived in the Easton area until her marriage to J. Russell Harris. She had been employed by a local bank and, for a time, drove one of the family-owned school buses. A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Harris was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cordova, where she also served as a Sunday school teacher, and a life member of the Cordova Volunteer Firemen's Association's Ladies' Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, Michael Wilke of Rehoboth Beach, DE; her daughter, Renee L. Pearson and her husband, Troy, of Cordova; her step-children: Connie Sypniewski of Cordova, Larry Harris and his wife, Sylvia, of Forest Hill, and Teresa Kalenowsky of Easton; and her grandchildren: Brandon Harris, Lauren Hyatt, Lindsay Harris, Neva Sypniewski, Nevan Sypniewski, Karl Kalenowsky, Catherine Pearson, and Samuel Pearson.

Friends may call on Monday, August 2 from 7:00 – 9:00 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Easton.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 3 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cordova, MD.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Easton, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cordova Volunteer Firemen's Association, PO Box 102, Cordova, MD 21625.
