Katie Sue Jordan McDowell, 80, of Hwy 905 died Saturday February 26, 2011 at Conway Medical Center. She was born August 12, 1930 in Horry County, a daughter of the late Irvin T. and Grace Edna Nealy Jordan.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Berley E. McDowell.
Mrs. McDowell was a longtime member of Kingston Baptist Church where she was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, church clerk and choir member. For many years she arranged flowers for the altar. Mrs. McDowell was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking, flower gardening and floral arrangements. Mrs. McDowell retired from the City of Conway after many years of dedicated service.
Mrs. McDowell is survived by her three sons, Donald Ray McDowell, Billy W. McDowell (Diane) and K. Darrell McDowell all of Conway; one daughter, Glenda Cox (Tony ) of Conway; one brother, Odell Jordan (Genevieve); one sister, Esteline Lewis; six grandchildren, Donya Jordan (Robert), April Gibson (Lee), Andrea Pilch (David), Jaret Cox, Joy Benton (Jason) and Bridget Orlandi (Jose); six great grandchildren, Raegan Gibson, Lake Gibson, Evan Jordan, Jared Pilch, Kayden Pilch and Hannah Benton and many other family and friends who will miss her.
The family extends many thanks to caregivers, Bonnie Dougher, Sarah Flynt and Theresa Coffin for their love, care and support the past year.
The family will receive friends at Watson Funeral Services from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, February 27, 2011.
Funeral Services will be held 11am Monday, February 28, 2011 at Kingston Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Black and Rev. Billy Hackett officiating.
Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
