son of John Henry Hutto and Ann Zorn m. 5 Jan 1780
husband of Elizabeth Gilliam and father to Henry J, Elizabeth, Allen, Sarah "Sallie", Matilda and Susannah
Twin brother to John Hutto.
Born in Barnwell, SC.

Jacob and Elizabeth married sometime in 1820 in Barnwell SC. Moving to south Alabama around 1836 with their children and various other kin and friends. They lived primarily in Pike and Coffee Co. Jacob was a great hunter and fisherman and served in the army during the war of 1812, probably not seeing much action due to his age. He was a man of medium build, drank a bit, but was always kind to his family.
Sometime during the 1850's Jacob and his family moved to FL for about six years before moving back to AL. I have been unable to locate Jacob or Elizabeth on any 1860 US Census. While living in Florida Jacob converted under the teaching of a Methodist missionary and joined the Methodist church. After returning to Alabama he rejoined the Baptist church. His reasoning was he believed as the Baptist do. He refused to become a deacon because "I was not apt to teach". Jacob died of kidney disease. He was the first person buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Talladega Al. In 1947 his descendents had a monument placed at his grave. (most of this info comes from Mary Beth Wilbanks, a gr gr granddaughter who is still living and well in her 90's)

Jacob and Elizabeth were my gr gr gr gr Grandparents.
