Smock, Therese C. (nee Wirtz), of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010, at home with her family. Therese is survived by her husband: William J. Smock; children: William Smock, Mark (Debra) Smock, Jeanne (Mark) Helmerich, Matthew Smock, Philip (Susan) Smock, Janette (Tom) Wiseman, Kate Smock; grandchildren: Aaron (Megan), Rachel and Veronica Smock, Julia, Kiera and Joseph Smock , Sara and Amanda Helmerich, Jessie Smock, Joshua, Tiffany and Alicia Smock , Tim and Jenny Wiseman, sister-in-law, Dorothy Wirtz, brother-in-law, David (Louise) Smock and many devoted nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her parents: John and Helen Wirtz; six brothers: John and Anthony who died in infancy, Nicholas, Clarence, Bernard (Buck) and Leo; five sisters: Clara Rettig, Regina Wirtz, Sister Amadea Wirtz, CSA, Sister Camilla Wirtz, CSA, and Sister Anne Wirtz, CSA. Therese was a member of St. Matthias Catholic Church. In addition to donating many volunteer hours for church functions, Therese previously served on the parish council, taught CCD, and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She graduated from Bishop Noll High School and attended St. Francis College in Joliet, IL. Therese enjoyed baking, gardening, crochet, and was a lifelong Cubs and Notre Dame fan. She loved spending time with her family. Therese will be deeply missed by all whose life she touched. Funeral prayers will be said on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 9:15 AM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 AM at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 101 W. Burrell Dr., Crown Point with Fr. James Wozniak officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Crown Point. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre (NOTE: NEW LOCATION-2 blocks east of Broadway) at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN.
