Viola Fern Ridder Eilts, 85, of Fairbury, NE died July 23, 1998, at a Fairbury Care Center.
Viola was born August 22, 1912, to August and Caroline Feith Ridder on a farm east of Fairbury NE. She died July 23, 1998, at the Heritage Care Center, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 1 day.
She was baptized in 1913 at the Fairbury United Methodist Church. She grew up in the Fairbury area and attended District 28 and later Fairbury High School, where she graduated among the top 10 of her class. After graduation she taught at District 26 near Reynolds, the same school her mother had attended as a girl.
On Nov. 24, 1931, she married Edwin J. Eilts at the home of her parents. One daughter was born to this union. They made their home near Jansen for 20 years before moving to a farm south of Endicott, NE where they lived and farmed until his death. She moved to Fairbury later and for 17 years she worked at the Fairbury Public Library. She retired in 1986 due to declining health. In Aug. of 1997, she became a resident of the Heritage Care Center.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Methodist Women's group, Rock Creek Friendship Club and a charter member of the Little Blue Belles Extension Club and Fairbury AARP.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sister Dorothea and brother Louis.
Services were July 27, at the Fairbury United Methodist Church with Joyce Heidelk presiding. Burial was in the Fairbury Cemetery.
