Lucy Thooft, 82, Tyler, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, Tyler.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 23 at St. Dionysius Catholic Church, Tyler.
Interment was in the church cemetery.

Lucy Catherine Thooft was born July 25, 1928 to Joseph and Engelina (Shoo) Balster on the family farm near Iona. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Columba Catholic Church in Iona. She attended country school through the eighth grade. Her father died when she was nine, and she stayed at home to help on the farm, eventually becoming homemaker for three bachelor brothers after her mother died.

She married Leon Thooft on June 19, 1962 at St. Columba Catholic Church. The couple farmed near Tyler and then moved into town in1965.
She moved into Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in 2008.
She was a member of St. Dionysius Catholic Church, Tyler.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Leon, Tyler and a sister, Josephine Neuheisel, Belle Fourche, S.D.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, John, Henry, Frank, Bill, Aloy, Bernard and Norbert Balster and two sisters, Mary Clark and Anna Schaffer.
