Peter T. Harksen, 75, of Goose Lake, died at 7 p.m. Sunday in Jane Lamb hospital after a lingering illness.

A native of Germany, he was born April 5, 1879, and came to this country 72 years ago with his parents, Louis and Pauline Petersen Harksen. He and the former Helena Kruse were married Feb. 4, 1903, In Goose Lake. He was a retired carpenter and a member of St. John’s Lutheran church in Preston.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Vernon and Delbert Harksen, Clinton; three grandchildren; four brothers, Johannes of Clinton, Alvin and Harry of DeWitt, and Louis of Davenport; a sister, Mrs. Henry Petersen, Clinton, and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, a daughter, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

The body reposes at the Pape funeral home, where friends may call beginning at 7 p.m. today. It will be taken to the family residence at 10:30. a.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the family home and at 2 p.m. in the Preston Lutheran church. Rev. W. A. Bischoff will officiate, and burial will be in Center Grove cemetery.
