Known as "Robert", he was the son of Rosalie (Henke) and August Kothe. He was born in the former German province of Schlesien in the village of Schlabitz, Kreis Guhrau. His wife was Emilie Denke. After refusing to leave his home with other members of his family in January of 1945, Robert was killed by invading Russian soldiers when he denied having any food to give them. His grave is not in the cemetery, rather it is in the front yard of his former home in Schlabitz. Robert's neighbor, Herr Stiller, found his body in the barn and kindly buried him.
