Don W. Waibel , 51, of Mankato, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.

Funeral service is 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the Evangelical Covenant Church, North Mankato, with Rev. James Dye officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery, Fairfax.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church.

Memorials may be given to an organization of the donor's choice.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Willard of Mankato; a son, Graham Waibel of Eagle Lake; two stepsons, Christopher (Jackie) Willard of Mankato, Corey (Gina) Willard of Holmen, WI; a stepdaughter, Kelsey Willard and fiancé, Chris Prodoehl of Mankato; two stepgrandchildren, Erin and Noah; two brothers, Greg (Karen) Waibel of Indianapolis, IN, Ron (Lora) Waibel of Fairfax; a sister, Deb Nachreiner of Fairfax; his beloved dog, Nikki; and nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don was born June 21, 1953, in Sleepy Eye to Donald and Helen (Fahey) Waibel. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1971 and from Rochester Technical College as a surgical technician. He married Darlene Willard on Feb. 13, 1998, in Mankato. He was employed as a surgical technician at the St. Peter Community Hospital in St. Peter. Don was a member of Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church. He enjoyed music and was an avid sports fan, especially baseball.
