Catherine M. Janty, 78, of New Holstein, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1925, in the Town of New Holstein, a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Salm Buhl.

On May 7, 1947, she married Jerome Janty at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Church in New Holstein and it's Christian Women's Society, of which she served as a former officer, a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Catholic Knights.

Survivors include her husband, Jerome of New Holstein; seven children, Paul (Sharon) Janty of Oshkosh, James (Susan) Janty of Colorado Springs, Mary Janty and her husband, Ted Young of Boulder, Colo., Anne Janty and her husband, Ken Hallett of Milwaukee, Clare Janty and her husband, Gary Vig of Cumberland, Chris Janty and her husband, Randall Sippel of St. Paul, Minn., and Lisa Janty and her husband, Peter Hilton of Cumberland; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Catherine is further survived by five sisters, Isabel Winkel of New Holstein, Sally Meyer of Fond du Lac, Viola Van Rooy of Green Bay, Delores (Adrian) Peik of Milwaukee, and Sister Lucille Buhl of Belton, Mo.; and one brother, Frank (Irene) Buhl of Bedford, N.H.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral Mass will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Holy Rosary Church in New Holstein. The Rev. Frank Weber will officiate. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
