It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maria Sumerall (Inverness, Florida), who passed away on August 27, 2019, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends.
She was predeceased by : her husband Col. Randolph Miller Sumerall; her parents, Paul Maass and Berta Maass; her siblings, Viktor, Fritz, Rudy, Siegfried, Harry Maass, Ilse Nehls and Vera Ohst; her sons, Randolph M Sumerall, Jr. and Paul Maass Sumerall. She is survived by : her daughters, Mia Terrell (Johnnie) and Diane Green (Hal) of Denton, TX; her sister Doris Endlicher of Vienna, Austria; her sisters-in-law, Ursula Maass of Greenville, MS and Gisela Maass of Scharnebeck, Germany; her daughter-in-law Nancy Sumerall of Dunwoody, GA; her grandchildren, Lucas Johnson of Seattle, WA, Neel Ryan Tucker of Denton, TX, Maria-Randolph Baseel (Nick) of South Windsor, CT, Harrison Sumerall (Kathi) of Tampa, FL, Alexander Sumerall of Dunwoody, GA and William Sumerall of Richmond, VA.
She is also survived by four great grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7th 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Inverness United Methodist Church (805 5th St, Inverness, MS). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7th 2019 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church (Worship Location & Church Office:, 1140 E Turner Camp Rd, Inverness, FL).
