Thomas Jefferson Hart was born May 24, 1837, in Highland county Ohio and died at his home in Dunlap March 1, 1915, aged 78 years, 9 months and 7 days.
He was married to Nancy C. Noel, July 12, 1860, at Blainesburg, Iowa, which union was blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters, Matthias Hart and Grant Hart of Dunlap; Mrs. William DeGarmo of Rockwell City, and Mrs. E. L. Hyer of Onawa. He with his family have resided the past forty-four years in and near Dunlap.
He professed faith in Christ and united with the M. E. church in 1892, but fell away these last few years. During his last sickness he again sought and found pardon of the Lord and told the family he was prepared to go.
He was a member of the G. A. R. having enlisted in Company H, 175 Regiment in Ohio.
For many months he has been a great sufferer, but quietly passed from labor to reward.
He leaves, beside his wife and four children, five grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his departure.
The funeral service was held from the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. A. R. Grant. The choir furnished appropriate music. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
