Ruth M. Kulhanek, 86, of Geneseo, mother of a Plainfield man, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Hammond-Henry Hospital Emergency Room, Geneseo.
Visitation for Ruth will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo. Graveside services will be Friday, Jan. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ruth M. Kulhanek Memorial Fund.
Ruth was born on Oct. 2, 1924, in Chicago, the daughter of Myron and Tobena VanDyke Gilman. She was a graduate of Austin High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Frank C. Kulhanek on Nov. 19, 1949, in Cicero, Ill.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Clarendon Hills, Ill. She served as a signal corps during World War II. Ruth enjoyed playing bingo and cards, especially bridge, and doing puzzles.
Survivors include her husband, Frank C. Kulhanek;
two daughters, Karen and Joe Russell, Geneseo, Laura and Mark DuFresne, Seattle, Wash.;
two sons, Wayne and Deda Kulhanek, Rhinelander, Wis., Frank A. and Barbara Kulhanek, Plainfield, Ill.;
three grandchildren, Tim Kulhanek, Matthew Kulhanek and Rachel Kulhanek;
