John passed away on Monday evening, Jan 10, 2011 after a short illness at the Ann Arbor Veterans hospital, palliative care unit. He was born in Florida on Dec 25, 1925. He was a WWII Veteran, devoted father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, William and Ouida Scott of Panama City, FL; sister, Mary Barrett of Florida; son, Denise Arron Scott; and his wife, Kathleen Scott of Dothan, AL. He is survived by his only child, Kathy Jo Klages of Milan; grandchildren, Kathryn Suz-Anne Klages of Ypsilanti Mi, Nathan John Klages, of Ypsilanti MI, Stefan Alexander Klages (Amanda) of Clinton, MI, and Elizabeth Ann Klages Milan, MI; and a great grandson, Elijah Matthew Dietrich -Klages, 6 MOS., of Clinton, MI. He is also survived by a sister, Ouida Elizabeth Richards of Milton, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Mary Scott of Panama City, FL, Howell and Ouida Scott of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Willie and Joann Scott of St. Augustine FL; along with many nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service to celebrate and honor his life at the Saline First United Methodist Church on Friday January 14 at 7pm with visitation at 6pm. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made to the Ann Arbor VA, Palliative Care unit and the VA Community Living Center. You make the checks out to AAVAHS and in the for section on the checks you may indicate in memory of John Robert Scott accounts /4221/4241, or if you which you may designate your donation to go toward a massage chair to be used in the palliative care unit and the community living center.
