Amstutz, Edna "Jean" 85, of Okemos, Michigan and formerly of Shelby, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2005 at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility following a long illness. She was born October 25, 1919 in Detroit, the daughter of James William Patrick and Helen Elizabeth Moule Patrick. Mrs. Amstutz was raised in Detroit and married Robert V. Amstutz on December 25, 1943. He passed away July 22, 1991. They lived in Gutenburg, Iowa from 1948 to 1956 and Saginaw, Michigan from 1956 to 1958 when they came to Shelby. Mrs. Amstutz moved to Haslett, Michigan in 2000. She served as the receptionist in her husband's Chiropractic office in Shelby for many years. Mrs. Amstutz was a member of Shelby United Methodist Church and had served on the church board. She was very active in the community as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Ladies Literary Club, helping with Red Cross Blood Drives, Rotary lunches and volunteering at church. She is survived by her children, Sally Pavis of West Palm Beach, Florida, James (Cheryl) Amstutz of Wyoming, Michigan and Helen (Richard) Ingersoll of Haslett, Michigan; her grandchildren, Bryan (and wife, Treasa) Ingersoll, Jean (and husband, Paul Coonrod) Ingersoll, Robert Charles (and wife, Stacy) Amstutz, Michelle (and husband, Mario) Lesa, Phillip Pavis, and Laura (and husband, David) Hill; seven great-grandchildren; twin brothers, James (and wife, Generina) Patrick and William (and wife, Genevieve) Patrick both of Detroit; and her sister, Louise Perkins of Detroit. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Patrick. The funeral service for Mrs. Amstutz will be held Saturday, January 22, 2 p.m. at Shelby United Methodist Church with Rev. Peggy Boltz officiating. (to find the church, exit US 31 at the Shelby Road Exit and go east on Shelby Road one mile to the stop sign. Turn left onto State Street and proceed two blocks to Third Street. The church is on the left side of State Street at the corner of State and Third) Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be in Mennonite Cemetery east of Shelby. Memorials to the Shelby United Methodist Church Building Fund are appreciated.
