Orlene Horman, 86, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at the Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with Rev. Tim Grams officiating. Burial will follow in the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling arrangements.
Orlene Alice Horman, the daughter of Gust and Alma (Meyer) Vollmer was born October 15, 1917 in rural Lamberton. Orlene married Kermit Horman February 23, 1947 in Sleepy Eye. They lived in Redwood County, farming west of Sleepy Eye in Brookville Township. Following her husband's death in 1951, Orlene moved into Sleepy Eye where she was employed as a sales clerk in local stores, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Phyllis Larsen and her husband Lester of Sleepy Eye, Idell Horman of Comfrey, Virginia Bendix of Echo, Thelma Vollmer of Sleepy Eye; niece, Audrey Horman of Eden Prairie; nephews, Armin Vollmer and his wife Joy of Tucson, AZ, Richard Horman and his wife Susan of Loretto, Ronald Horman and his wife Laura of Clements, Wyatt Bendix and his wife Barb of Echo, Scott Bendix and his wife Deb of St. Cloud, Paul Bendix and his wife Jolene of Minneapolis, and James Horman of Comfrey.
In addition to her parents and husband, Orlene was preceded in death by her brothers, Armin and Ralph Vollmer.
