Marilyn K. Backes, age 90 of Linn, passed away Friday, December 17, 2010, at her residence.

Marilyn was born February 6, 1920, in Loose Creek, a daughter to the late Peter and Agnes (Ehrens) Boessen.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Rudolph Henry Backes on August 21, 1942, in Loose Creek. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1990.

Marilyn was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Frankenstein. She was a member of St Ann's Ladies Sodality, a 4-H Leader, member of the Extension Club and enjoyed card playing, quilting, bowling, gardening and canning.

Marilyn is survived by: two sons, Mark and his wife Tanya Backes of Loose Creek, Glenn and his wife Jo Ann Backes of Frankenstein; two daughters, Jane Troesser of Frankenstein and Phyllis and her husband David Renick of Jefferson City; thirteen grandchildren, Donna Haslag, Russell Troesser, Chris Troesser, Karen Gentges, Diane Peters, Julie Peters, Jeanne Peters-Baker, Dennis Peters, Josh Renick, Madison Backes, Kassady Backes, Michelle Backes and Patrick Backes and fifteen great grandchildren, Kurt Haslag, Nathan Haslag, Calli Haslag, Zach Troesser, Alicia Troesser, Tyler Troesser, Melanie Troesser, Cody Gentges, Alan Gentges, Leah Gentges, Christian Peters, Eljae Walker, Briana Baker, Grant Baker, and Xavier Schlottke; two sisters-in-laws, Melba Boessen of Loose Creek and Martha Backes of Frankenstein as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by: one brother, John Boessen, one sister, Anita Backes and a son-in-law, Norman Troesser.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010, at Morton Chapel in Linn. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Frankenstein with Fr. I.C. Medina as the Celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane Cemetery in Frankenstein

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Our Lady Help of Christians Church or to St Mary's School.
