Mr. Allen C. Presson died at his home near Zach Wednesday. The deceased was one of the oldest citizens in the county, being in his 90th year, and had been in very feeble health for several years. Mr. Presson has resided in Benton County for a long number of years, and at one time was very prominent in the political affairs of this county. He was elected to the office of sheriff in 1842, serving two years. He filled the office of county surveyor from 1848 to 1852, and again from 1860 to 1865. In 1865 he was elected to the office of county court clerk, serving until 1868. He was one of the public spirited and enterprising citizens of the county and a justly popular official. The remains were interred with all the honors of Masonry yesterday at Mount Carmel. He leaves a host of relatives, to whom we extend condolence and sympathy in their sad bereavement.
