Leona Atkisson, Hays, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, in Hays.

She was born in Russell to Alexander and Elizabeth (Voos) Reuber. She was a graduate of Russell High School and attended Salt City Business College, Hutchinson.

She married Roy Atkisson Sept. 19, 1944, in Leon. She was a graduate and instructor at Sidney's Beauty College, Hays, and later owned and operated Leona's Campus Beauty Salon.

She was a member of the National Cosmetology Association and Hays VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Steve Atkisson, Wichita; a sister, Caroline Jones, Pennsville N.J.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Atkisson, two brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, Hays; interment in Mount Allen Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Fort Hays State University Endowment Association, in care of the funeral home.
