Wincenty Jan Nowicki was born in Głuszyn, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Poland on June 28, 1883. On September 14, 1903 he married Maryanna Piasecka in the Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Narodzenie NMP) in Zgłowiączka, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Poland. He arrived in New York on January 27, 1913 and came to South Chicago, Illinois where he worked in Carnegie Illinois Steel (later U.S. Steel South Works). In Poland he and Maryanna had two children, Jan and Maryanna. On August 12, 1914 his wife and two children arrived in the United States and joined him in Chicago. He and Maryanna had three more children together in Chicago, Victoria, Wincenty, and a baby boy who died immediately after birth. Wincenty Jan died on May 13, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois.
