Avona Domeier, 56, of Rt. 2 Sleepy Eye died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999 from injuries she received in an automobile accident in rural New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. today at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, and there will be a rosary by Catholic Order of Foresters at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Domeier of rural Sleepy Eye; daughter Christine Tanley and her husband Tim of rural Sleepy Eye; sons, Daniel Domeier and Larry Domeier and his fiancee Tammy Wilson all of New Ulm; two grandchildren, Heidi and Katie Tanley of rural Sleepy Eye; sisters, Shirleen Beranek and her husband Kenny of New Ulm, Doreen Cichon and her husband Gerald of Gibbon; brothers, Roger Altmann and his wife Arlene of Klossner, Ronald Altmann and his wife Jolene of New Ulm; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Esther Domeier of New Ulm.
She was born June 3, 1942 in New Ulm to Victor and Winifred (Meyer) Altmann. She graduated from New Ulm High School. She married Donald Domeier on June 24, 1961 at Swan Lake Catholic Church. They farmed in Sigel Township on the family farm. She was a volunteer for the Sigel Fireflies 4-H and participated in the Narren Group for Heritagefest for several years. She worked at the Dittrich Specialties for nearly 11 years. She was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Christian Mothers and Catholic Order of Foresters.
