Herman Fink was the fifth child (of fifteen) born to Mary Clara Borgerding and Joseph H. Fink. Herman married twice. His first marriage was on Feb. 1, 1910 to Kathryn Schneider. Kathryn died at a young age on Jan 16, 1912. They had no children.
Herman's second marriage was to Barbara Kaus (Hansen) on Oct. 23, 1917 just before Herman left to join the fighting in Meuse-Argonne, during World War I. Barbara had 2 children from a previous marriage. When Herman returned from WWI, he and Barbara had 4 more children.
Herman died 6:10 p.m., Thursday, July 4, 1940 at the Veteran's Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, where he had been a patient for nearly a year. Funeral services were held at Dayton, Ohio, 9:00 a.m. Monday July 8, 1940 and burial was at the National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio.
