DR. WILLIAM FARR "CHUBBY" ANDREWS, age 84 of Germantown, Tennessee was born on June 19, 1921 in Memphis, and died on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at his residence. He was a retired General Surgeon, where he practiced in Memphis at the Baptist Memorial Hospital for 50 years. Dr. Andrews was an Elder of First Evangelical Church of Memphis, Captain in the United States Army Medical Corp during World War II with the occupational forces in Japan. He was past member of the National Board of Young Life, Crichton College, Memphis Union Mission, Memphis Country Club, Love Worth Finding and Beaver Dam Hunting Club. He was also an active sportsman: envied winged shooter, enthusiastic angler, accomplished author, noted taxidermist, unrelenting photographer and traveled lecturer. He was the Memphis City High School Golf Champion in 1939, Captain of University of Tennessee Knoxville's Golf Team and Memphis City Handball Champion and City Tennis runner-up. These accomplishments paled in significance to him in comparison to his role as active church elder and lay leader. Since Chubby was a true lover of people, he always welcomed any opportunity to proclaim the faithfulness, grace and mercy of God, as he would say, "offered to all men through His Son Jesus Christ." His insatiable desire to proclaim the Word of God was also evidenced through his weekly teaching of his Sunday School Class of 55 years. This love of people was best demonstrated by his exemplary marriage of 61 years to Marje, their five children and spouses, 28 grandchildren and spouses, 22 great grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews and countless best friends... who all adored him! He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Radford Andrews; five children, Dr. John and Leeba Curlin and their 7 children: Captain David and Mia Curlin, Mr. Dan and Marvi Gunn, Mr. Dan and Micah Lindquist, Dr. Farr and Kimberly Curlin, Dr. Howard and Michelle Curlin, Mr. John Reid and Laura Curlin and 2nd Lt.
