He was born March 23, 1890, in Grimm, Russia. He came to the United States in 1907 and lived for a year in Cincinnati, Ohio. He married Elizabeth Fritzler, who preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 1951.
He farmed in the Windsor area until 1929, when he went into the hardware and implement business, in which he remained active with his two sons.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his sons, Gerhart and Henry; two daughters, Hattie and Erna, all of Windsor; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm from St. John's Lutheran Church, Windsor, with interment in Lakeview Cemetery.
