Mrs. Wolfner died in a doctor's office in Miami, Florida after receiving a penicillin shot for a virus. She suffered a severe allergic reaction to the shot and died a few minutes later. Her body was sent to a funeral home in Chicago.

National Football League Owner. Owner of the Chicago/St. Louis Cardinals football team from 1947 to her passing in 1962. She became the first woman principal owner in the National Football League in 1947 after the passing of her husband Charles Bidwill. She, along with her second husband Walter Wolfner, moved the team from Chicago to St. Louis in 1960. The team (now the Arizona Cardinals) remains in the Bidwill family to this day.
