Johanna Peters was born on a farm near Tea, South Dakota on July 2, 1917, the daughter of George T. and Anna (Fischer) Peters.
She attended Schoffelman School and grew up there.
On March 1, 1937 she was united in marriage to Wessel H. Plucker at Germantown Parsonage, rural Chancellor.
They lived on the home farm their entire married life.
Her husband died on January 27, 1989, ending a marriage of nearly 52 years.
She continued to live on the farm and became a resident of the Tieszen Memorial Nursing Home in July of 2010. Johanna was a member of Germantown Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, artwork and farming. She especially loved spending time with her grandsons.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons in infancy; two brothers: Fred and George G. Peters; four sisters: Anna, Etta, Frieda and Marie.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, John Plucker of Chancellor; her daugher, Jannet Johns and her husband, Eldon, of Hartford; two grandsons and their wives: Michael and Jennifer Johns of Piedmont and Mark and Jessica Johns and one great-grand-daughter, Kara Johns, all of Sioux Falls; one sister, Helene Strasser, a resident of Tieszen Memorial Nursing Home in Marion; plus several other relatives and friends.
Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Febuary, 8, 2011 at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox, SD with burial to follow in the Germantown Cemetery, rural Chancellor, SD.
