Mr. Eggebrecht was vice president and director of sales for MECO Corp., until his retirement July 1, 1991.

He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and Link Hills County Club, having served on the board of directors from 1984-1989.

He was a 1943 graduate of Proviso East High School in Maywood, Ill.

Mr. Eggebrecht was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He enlisted in June of 1943 and was discharged in May of 1946.

He attended and was graduated from radio school at the Marine base in San Diego, Calif., February 1944, and was immediately assigned to the newly organized 5th Marine Division of the 3rd Battalion, 13th Marines, at Camp Pendleton, Calif., where he first met the late Bob Austin of Greeneville, who was a captain in charge of all communications for the 13th Marines.

He was a member of the Sgt. Elbert Kinser Detachment of the Marine Corps League in Greeneville, serving as the commandant in 1991. He was a member of the Marine Corps League Scratch Champions in 1989 and 1990.

He was named "Boss of the Year" by the Greeneville Chapter of National Secretaries Association, now Professional Secretaries International, in May of 1973.

Mr. Eggebrecht was a member of the Barbecue Industry Association, serving in leadership positions from 1977-1989, president from 1979-1980, and on the board of directors and as executive chairman.
