Funeral services for Harold Wilbur Liddle, 89, of Spurger, will be 3:00 pm Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Spurger United Methodist Church under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home of Silsbee. Interment will follow in Turner Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Liddle was a native of Bright, IN and lived in Beaumont for many years before retiring and moving to Spurger. He was a carpenter foreman for the City of Beaumont before retiring and proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army. Mr. Liddle was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Mabel Liddle and sisters, Mildred Nowlin and Fern Lafevor. Survivors include his wife Dollie Alethia Riddle Liddle of Spurger and daughters, Theresa Bernsen and husband Kenesaw of Beaumont and Phyllis Noack and husband Robert of Spurger. Although he had no grandchildren, he had many who called him 'Poppa Liddle'. He loved the girls in his life and even though he had no sons, he loved Thomas Averre like his own. The family would like to say 'Thank You' to the nurses and staff at Physician's Link & Dr. Doyce Cartrett's office, all of whom he became very attached to while they provided him care.
