William A. Messner, 89, of 1722 N. 9th St., died at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center on Tuesday, October 4, 2005.
Bill was born March 29, 1916 in Sheboygan to George and Mary (Kastner) Messner.
He attended Holy Name School before graduating from Sheboygan High School, Class of 1934.
During World War II, Bill served his country in the US Army in the South Pacific.
On July 29, 1946 he was united in marriage to Connie Schirmeister at Holy Name Catholic Church. Connie preceded him in death on March 27, 1980.
Bill worked most of his life at the C. Reiss Coal Co. in a variety of positions, and most recently at H.C. Prange Co., retiring in 1982.
Mr. Messner was a member of St. Clement Parish and a member of the E.A.A.
In addition to being a Packer fan, Bill enjoyed photography, ice skating and jazz music.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law; a daughter and son-in-law; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his pet dog, Sammy.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by four brothers, Hans, Otto, George and a twin brother, Clem; and three sisters, Margaret, Louise and Marie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church by Rev. Edward F. Monroe CSsR, the pastor. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Bill will always be remembered for his skills as a storyteller and for the special place in his heart he always held for his wife, Connie.
