SARAH JOHANNA POST

Sarah was born March 25, 1890, in a sod house 15 miles east of Okarche in Oklahoma Territory. She entered the Kingdom of God by the washing of the water and the Word. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran, Okarch, on March 25, 1892. Her pastor at the time was Rev. M.J. Vonder Au. Sarah attended the parochial school of St. John and publicly confessed her faith in her Savior Jesus Christ at the time of her confirmation day, March 27, 1904, at St. John.

On November 25, 1919, Sarah Johanna and Weert "Bill" Post were married at St. John, making a commitment to one another "till death us do part". For over 60 years they were committed to each other looking to God's Word and Sacrament for His blessing and encouragement. To this couple God gave four children: Dennis and Albert of Kingfisher and Dorothy of Okarche. Another son, Raymond, was killed in World War II. When Sarah and W. B. Were married, they lived on a farm northeast of Okarche and later northeast of Kingfisher. In 1948, they moved to Kingfisher.

Sarah was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Kingfisher. With her husband they were long-time members of Emmanuel. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Sarah is survived by two sisters and a brother: Anna Post, Kingfisher; Frances Lawrenz, Duncan; and Albert Gleichman, Edmond. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren an 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, her son, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
