Clarence Herbert Brandner, 81, Herreid, SD, died February 12, 2011 in the Linton Hospital.

Clarence was born April 7, 1929 in Herreid, SD, the son of Simon and Josephine (Reible) Brandner. He attended school in Herreid.

Clarence married Mary Werlinger on January 27, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hague, ND. God blessed Clarence and his wife Mary with over 58 years of marriage. They made their home in Leola, SD for 4 years, and in 1955, they moved to Herreid, SD. While living in Herreid, Clarence worked for Herreid Equity for 20 years. He also managed the Coop Station and worked for Jensen's Rock and Sand for 18 years. He also was part owner of the old Herreid Livestock while he raised livestock and had a hobby farm.

Clarence enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Clarence served on the Herreid City Council. He also attended AA and was able to enjoy 45 years of sobriety. Clarence helped many alcoholics through their recoveries. He had a strong love for Jesus and the Blessed Mary and he was a very devote Catholic with a true devotion to the Rosary and the Divine Mystery.

He is survived by his children: Joyce and Ed Zacher of Manhattan, MT, David and Cindy Brandner of Norfolk, NE, Sandy and Pat Jahner of Linton, ND, Simon and Nila Brandner of Hollywood, NE, Pat and Jackie Brandner of Imperial, PA, Dale and Rhonda Brandner of TX, Danny Brandner of Lubbock, TX, Julie Stuhr of Aberdeen, SD, Ruby and Rock Larson of Sioux Falls, SD, Bud Brandner of Sioux Falls, SD, Mark Brandner of Anaheim Hills, CA, Bob and Suzy Brandner of Worthington, MN and Carebear, his loving dog; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law: Lawrence and Mary Brandner of Herreid, SD and also sharing a special part of his life was Johanna Horner of Linton, ND. Even though Clarence had a large family, he had a big heart and extended it to many special people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2005, two daughters: Peggy Simmons and Sylvia Brandner in infancy; one son, Willie J. Brandner; two grandsons: Jeff and Mark Brandner; three brothers: George, Vincent and Martin; and five sisters: Josephine Seiler, Viola Holzworth, Delores Hilt, Isabelle Graff and Mary Ann Engelhardt. "Love you……..over and out!"
