Born April 15, 1917, in Washington County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Grover B. and Lura Little Osborne. She was a lifelong member and former church secretary of Linkous Chapel Freewill Baptist Church at Dry Fork. Mrs. Blevins taught in the Tazewell County School System for 46 years. She was a member of the T.E.A. and a life member of the P.T.A. She was an avid quilter and cook and enjoyed passing her works onto family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Ward Blevins, one brother, Elmer Osborne, one sister, Blanche Blevins, and son-in- law, John Stevenson.
Survivors include one son, James E "Buddy" Blevins and wife Nancy of Tazewell; three daughters, Erma Earls and husband Kenneth of Cliffield, Va., Jane Stevenson of Cedar Bluff and Phyllis O'Quinn and husband Frank of Tazewell; three sisters, Ethel Earls of Bluefield, Va., Violet Lefler of Chilhowie and Ruby Guy and husband Marshall of Marion; six grandchildren, Suzanne McGlothlin, Brian Earls, Juda O'Quinn, Jill O'Quinn, Monica Blevins and Lori Blevins; three great-grandchildren, Tyler McGlothlin, Madison McGlothlin and Ailey Earls, and special caregiver, Eleanor Myers of Cedar Bluff.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at the Grosses Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at Chilhowie, with the Rev. J.C. Steele, the Rev. Kenny Fields and the Rev. Larry Ramey officiating. Pallbearers will be Frank O'Quinn, Kenneth Earls, Brian Earls, Brian McGlothlin, Mike Guy and Kennard Blevins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Linkous Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Betty Hankins, Route 1, Bandy, VA 24602.
