Eugene C. Pipher, 81, of Union Center, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 13, 2005, at his home. He was predeceased by his son, William Pipher. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Minnie, Union Center; four sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Rosa Pipher, Endicott, Bob and Carol Pipher, Endicott, John Pipher, Endicott, Paul Pipher, Florida; two daughters, Shirley Hill, Endwell, Nancy Gwyn, Union Center; a daughter-in-law, Deanna Pipher, Florida; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Jean Knight, Tennessee; one sister, Betty Jenson, Florida; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his church family. Gene was a veteran of WW II serving with the US Army and had been a Prisoner of War during WW II. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a retired EJ employee with 45 years of service and a member of the Union Center Christian Church. Gene was a volunteer for the Office of the Aging and the Western Broome Meals on Wheels. He was a member and founding father of the Union Center Volunteer Fire Department. Gene was a dedicated family man.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2005, at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 East Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Douglas Hill, Jr., Associate Pastor of the Union Center Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday 4-7 p.m. "Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy; for, behold, your reward is great in Heaven" Luke 6:23.
