He was born Dec. 9, 1921, at Latimer, the son of Edward F. and Helene K (Oltmanns) Monnich.
Mr. Monnich was farmer. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Herington. He was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church, Latimer, and confirmed at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ramona. He was sexton of the church cemetery for many years. He was born on the farm near Latimer, and at age four his family moved southwest of Herington where he resided until his death. He graduated from Hope High School with the class of 1949.
He married Yvonne L. Gentz on June 14, 1959, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ramona; she survives of the home.
He is also survived by his daughter, Valerie Watson of Chapman; a brother, Werner Monnich of Delavan; a granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Krause, on Nov. 11, 1991.
Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 17, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herington. Burial followed at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Ramona.
Friends called Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
